The overall aim of the project was to investigate the guideline-based care of patients with kidney disease not requiring dialysis in old age. For this purpose, quality indicators were defined based on the S3 guideline "Care of patients with chronic non-dialysis-dependent renal insufficiency in general practice" and other international guidelines. These were evaluated, ranked, and finalised by a total of 6 experts by means of a Delphi survey, followed by a consensus conference. The experts were composed of patient representatives, representatives from nephrology, geriatrics and general practice and family medicine specialities.

Subsequently, the quality indicators were evaluated and mapped. For this purpose, the statutory health insurance routine data of the AOK Nordost as well as data from the Berlin Initiative Study were used. Qualitative interviews were conducted to identify possible obstacles to the implementation of  said guidelines among GPs. Based on this, implementation strategies for the GP care of patients with chronic kidney disease were developed.

Once the quality indicaters were created, the preliminary study results were presented at the DEGAM-Congress 2022 .
