Matching of real-world medication data based on a graph-based representation of an IDMP conformant medication model
Markus Budeus will talk about his Master Thesis topic in which he tackles the issue of unstructured medication data in clinical documentation in German hospitals. This is because unstructured data is difficult to use for research purposes. As of now, a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) data model exists which defines structured information for medications. However, hospitals do not employ it as the overhead for creating these instances with all required information is too much of a workload. For this reason, he creates a graph database containing data about all medications cleared for use in Germany and use it to create FHIR objects for said medications. In addition, he will develop a search algorithm which can be used to resolve the medication instances so they can be employed.
