About us

The Section Epidemiology of Health Care and Community Health is involved in clinical and population-based projects in the areas of healthcare research and epidemiology, in which morbidity, risk factors and healthcare needs as well as the consequences of demographic change are analysed.

The focus is on care epidemiological intervention studies as well as setting-specific primary and secondary prevention approaches. Innovative care concepts, concepts for the future division of labour between academic and non-academic professional groups in the healthcare system and the establishment of curricula for new qualifications in healthcare and the healthcare system are developed, implemented and evaluated.

The section develops solutions for data management, practice transfer and consulting tasks for health care epidemiological and clinical research projects.

The section is involved in the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the National Cohort (NaKo), the German Centre for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK), the German Centre for Child and Adolescent Health (DZKJ) and the Cancer Registry of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (KR-MV).
