Surveys are an integral part of our lives. Especially in healthcare and research, questionnaires have become indispensable. But not all questionnaires are the same. This course was designed for PhD students. Students are taught how a scientific questionnaire should be planned, constructed, and tested. Special attention is paid to the topics of quality criteria, ethical principles and test persons. The course aims at teaching the methodological basics of questionnaire design.

Learning objectives

The learning objectives address different levels of learning. The process is divided into two levels:

  • At the level of knowledge: students acquire a theoretical understanding of the individual steps of questionnaire construction according to scientific criteria.
  • At the level of skill development: Students learn to critically analyze their own medical knowledge horizon in terms of knowledge stocks and gaps. Through extensive exposure to the topic and potential challenges and pitfalls in questionnaire construction, students will be able to analyze and compare questionnaires by the end of the course. Students will be able to design their own scientific questionnaire upon completion.

Performance Review

There is no examination in this course. The course is passed if the participant was present for the entire day.
