My research focuses on understanding early determinants of sex-specific outcomes in the context of perinatal brain injury, with a particular emphasis on oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) and resilience mechanisms in females. I am investigating how hyperoxia-induced injury affects neural development using diverse in vitro models, integrating molecular, cellular, proteomic and multidisciplinary approaches. A major line of inquiry explores the role of extracellular signaling and intracellular nucleocytoplasmic signaling pathways (e.g., Nup133/Nrf1) in shaping differential cellular responses to oxidative stress, with the goal of identifying novel targets for neuroprotective strategies in preterm infants.
