Penis cancer
Penis cancer is a rare malignant disease (approximately 800 cases/year), which in the early stage is restricted to the foreskin and glans. Risk factors are phimosis, restricted hygiene, chronic inflammation, HPV infections, and smoking. It is most commonly men of approximately 60 years of age who are affected by this disease.

Treatment for penis cancer depends on the stage: In the early stage a wedge excision should be considered, taking into account cosmetic aspects, while in later stages a glansectomy, a partial penis amputation, or a complete amputation of the penis may be result.
The propagation diagnostics includes a contrast agent CT thorax and abdomen, and for a clinical N0 situation, a sentinel lymph node biopsy with possible inguinal lymphadenectomy.
A metastasized penis cancer disease requires chemotherapy with paclitaxel, gemcitabine and 5-FU. This will be undertaken under inpatient conditions. Frequent outpatient blood tests are required. In rare cases radiotherapy is also possible.
Our clinic participates in a penis cancer register study.
